Monoprinting

I experimented with monoprinting a while ago, just collecting some interesting textures and what not!

Book making!

We had a book making workshop which was fun. I had never made a book before and I'm pretty pleased with it!

I've also been messing around with my ink drawings on Photoshop. I'm still pretty rusty on photoshop but I want to try and make some images in this sort of style for my project...

Life drawing

I've been going to some (very much needed) life drawing classes recently. These are the quick sketches I did for the short poses, I think they look better than the drawings i spent longer on!

Experimental

Colour plays quite a dominant role in this narrative and I actually came up with this when      I was picking the dried paint off of my paint palette in the kitchen. It peeled off in thick layers of rich colour, and it brought to mind the references to Death collecting the souls of the dead: "So many humans. So many colours."
I stuck them on the page and drew the hands of Death in black ink, looking almost as if they are letting the colours run through the fingers. I wanted the type to be an extension of the colours, as if they are running down to the ground.

Acrylic paint and sepia stick.

Watercolours

I bought some new watercolour paints recently so I've been splashing some paint around. You can make such interesting colour blends and it works well for the swampy skies of Himmel Street. I painted Liesel in black and white acrylic over the top to contrast which i think works quite nicely.

I did this drawing in watercolour pencil a couple of weeks ago, it actually looks better on screen than i thought it would. I'm pretty much experimenting with everything in my art box at the moment!
